Dear all,
We are running a technical coaching course on Saturday 6th April (in 9 days time). Scott will be leading the course.
This course will help us assistant coaches teach certain aspect of the syllabus.
Content: focus will be on KIHON - so that we all teach consistently and accurately.
Plus:
- how to teach kihon no tsukuri for kansetsu waza - this is generally poorly understood. We will go through various exercises to build this exercise up, showing the links from gonosen no kuzushi to hiji mochi no kuzushi and randori. We'll also look at the difference between mainstream syllabus and student syllabus.
- how to teach randori: progression; we will also be sharing plenty of exercises.
- a few quick admin things (what to do in the case of an accident, attendance etc).
The course will be run from 11am until 1pm - this is for all current assistant coaches only. (if you are 2nd kyu or above and do not hold level 1 coaching but still want to attend, let me know)
From 1.30 until 4pm, the course will be open to all grades, and coaches will be putting in practice what they will have learnt in the morning. This will be a good opportunity for lower grades to get some extra practice ahead of the grading on Tuesday 23rd April.
The cost will be £5 only (to assistant coaches and lower grades).
This will prepare us to teach for the 2 weeks that Scott will be in hospital (from Monday 8th to 22nd April). Only coaches who attend this course will be able to teach over this fortnight. We will decide who will run classes.
Please also remember that we are holding a first aid course on Friday 26th April (6-9pm) - (captains please note, no student class that night.). All assistant coaches should have first aid skills. We have a few spaces left, and I am opening this to all grades, so get in touch!
