Dear aikidoka from Sheffield and around,

the Steel City Aikido Club is gearing up for its 7th Kangeiko, or winter training as it's known in Japanese; we will be starting on Sunday 16th February and finish - in one piece, shattered but elated - on Saturday 22nd February.

For those of you who have joined us in the past year, the challenge is to train a minimum of 24 hours over the 7 days, as well as train all the weekday morning sessions (7.30-8.45am). If you achieve that, you will have definitely improved by the end of the week for sure! Oh, and then you also receive our much coveted dojo mug!

This year, we're doing Kangeiko with a twist! We are raising funds for a heating system. If you've ever trained in the dojo over winter, you'll know about the blue feet, the damp mats, the dripping window sills and the bone crushing feeling induced by tobu ukemi...!

"Hardened martial artists needing a heater in a dojo?!" I hear you say! True, but we have been preparing a children's club, and we just can't send them home with blue feet! So, the sooner we raise the funds, the sooner we can start the junior club.

So, for the first time this year, we are asking all our kangeiko participants to pay their fees online on our crowdfunding website, ahead of the first day (£15 for concessions and £24 for workers). Have a look at our beautifully crafted crowdfunding website:
