Friday morning sessions

Hi all,

I'll be running Friday morning training sessions from this Friday 4th Feb, 8-9am.

These sessions are included in your weekly / monthly price, but not available to pay as you go (cos I don't want to be carrying money around!).

I'll assume a certain level of fitness as it'll be randori ho training sessions. It won't be as tiring as a Monday evening session though.

Here's how I plan to run them:

  • 8-8.10 warm up
  • 8.10-8.15 taisabaki circuit
  • 8.15-8.25 what we've worked on previously (squad / Thursday night)
  • 8.25-8.30 uchikomi
  • 8.30-8.40 put in practice the above in hikitategeiko circuit
  • 8.45 - 9 warm down and stretch

or thereabouts!

There won't be much talking or teaching on my part, as I'm running these sessions with myself in mind, in preparation for the competitions this year.

What you need to do before the session:
  • choose one technique to uchikomi ("drill/ repetition practice") to practise during the session, for YOU
  • ideally: start your aikdo diary to note what we've done on Thursday / squad and what YOU want to work on
  • know what muscle groups need stretching for YOU

Finally you'll get a lot more out of these sessions if you know exactly what you want to be working on, rather than waiting to be "spoonfed" aiki skills.

Really looking forward to these sessions! Good luck to the students for your last exams!
