Dear all,
with all the preparation and excitement of the SAUK Open, I forgot to mention that a new class has started in our dojo. Yes, finally, yoga is back!
with all the preparation and excitement of the SAUK Open, I forgot to mention that a new class has started in our dojo. Yes, finally, yoga is back!
Yoga instructor Nicola has just started lunchtime sessions on Tuesdays, between 12.30-1pm and 1-1.30pm. I joined her last week for the first session and her relaxed yet structured style was just what I needed, with stretches and balance postures, all focusing on breathing.
I would encourage you all to join, especially if you want to improve your stretching, or just to enjoy a nice half hour of relaxation!
and some more information below. Please pass on the message around, as this is not restricted to members of the aikido club.

About the instructor
I have been teaching yoga since 2008 and practising since 1998. I am also a qualified holistic therapist. I have a full enhanced CRB and have received Safeguarding training.
I am completing the 'You & Me yoga training' for working with those with learning and physical disabilities. Please feel free to contact me for any more details or if you would like to discuss the specific needs of an individual.
I am VTCT, ITEC and BWY qualified and a registered and insured member of the Complementary Therapists Association.

Holistic Therapies
I am able to offer a range of Holistic Therapies: Reflexology, Indian Head Massage as well as Aromatherapy Massage, Swedish Massage, Stress Release Massage and Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage. All of these treatments can work very well in helping the body gain and maintain good health and well-being. Combine regular massage with your yoga practice and other exercise regimes and see how it can help your performance, sleep and digestion, and your overall sense of balance.
Yoga is non-competitive and I therefore ask that you concentrate on your own body and do not compare yourself to other students.
Please do not be anxious about your flexibility. Only do as much as you can do, with time and practice your flexibility and stamina will improve. Try to observe whether you are holding tension in your jaw or holding your breath during posture. This indicates that you are forcing your body into the posture and this should be avoided.
Never hold a posture for longer than is comfortable and never strain. If it hurts – don't do it!
You will be asked to complete a data protection and health declaration providing medical information about you. This is confidential and will only be used for your benefit to ensure I teach you safely. Very few conditions prohibit yoga but some conditions require extra care.
