Sheffield Aikido Club September to DEcember 2013 Events - get involved!

Dear members of the Steel City Aikido Club,

we have set up our timetable of events for the first term, read below! Highlights are our annual Aiki-Marathon event!

Also, please confirm by 3rd September whether you are coming to the BAB annual seminar (Sat 21/9) - it'll be the first time we go to this event, and Scott has been invited to lead a session; I think it'll be quite exciting to see how the more traditional styles deal with our Shodokan structured system and competitive aspect. It is cheaper if we book in advance rather than pay on the day. I will therefore send forms on my return to the UK by Saturday 7th Sep.
I would also like to organise a sponsored walk in the Peaks on Sunday 6th October; this is being organised by the Children's Hospital, who was our charity for last year's Marathon. More info below. Let me know so we can sign up en masse!
Also, do not forget that we have Nariyama shihan visiting the UK in 1 week's time and that there are still places available for the Leeds seminar on Sat 31/8-sun 1/9. Contact Justin Gallagher!

Walk with us through Derwent Valley Sunday 6th October

Dear Celine

Join us for our Three Dams Walk on Sunday 6th October. If you fancy a leisurely 5 mile walk with all the family, or you're looking for a more serious 10 or 15 mile challenge – sign up and support our hospital and its young patients.

This year our walk, which leads fundraisers through the Derwent Valley around the dams of Ladybower, Derwent and Howden, aims to raise £25,000 to fund a patient bedroom in a new hospital ward, as part of our Make it Better appeal, which will benefit children with a range of muscle and bone conditions.  Find out more >

Monster Magnets

Artfelt launch an exciting exhibition 'Monster Magnets' at The Old Sweet Shop, Sheffield. Our patients took part in a Make your Own Monster workshop with local artist Tom Newell and you can now buy their horrifying handy work as a collectable magnet from the gallery with all proceeds going to Artfelt. Get running!

The Great Yorkshire Run is just around the corner so if you've been ramping up your runs this summer, why not enter and support us? Proud mum Michelle took on the run last year to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for her daughter Heidi, who was born eight weeks prematurely with a twisted bowel. Read Michelle's story >

One month to go!

This September our Mistress Cutler's Challenge comes to a close. Over 90 businesses, groups and individuals have taken part raising £70,000 so far with more still to come. All of the money raised will go to our Make it Better appeal, to transform our extraordinary hospital.
