Evening all,
It has come to my notice that the University of Sheffield is doing a film night this Sunday (06/12/2018) of the greatest worst film ever; The Room. The night will consist of a double billing of The Room and Greg Sestero & Tommy Wiseau's new film Best F(r)iends. Greg Sestero will also be turning up to this event for Q&As and autograph signing etc. The films will be showing from 22.00-03.00. It's a bank holiday on Monday so staying up late should hopefully not be too much of an issue.
As you probably gathered by now, I'm attempting to make an aikido social out of this event. So I'm thinking, lets turn up from around 20.00 at the University Arms pub, have a few drinks then spend the rest of the night watching "The Citizen Kane" of bad films. Feel free to turn up dressed as one of the characters from The Room too. I've got my Jonny/Tommy Wiseau costume sorted already (no joke).
Tickets cost £10 and can be bought from the students union. I have heard that tickets are selling fast so if you are going, try and get your tickets sorted soon. I'm going to be buying mine in the next day or so.
Conventional "Room" wisdom suggests that to get the most out of a public showing of The Room, it is best to have seen the movie beforehand. If you haven't seen it already, you can find it on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVn-xI9rKNA&has_verified=1 . Grab a friend and enjoy.
Let me know if you are interested in going. For more information, the description of the event from the official facebook page is at the bottom of this e-mail. Also here's the link to the facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/events/145061696336065/152406762268225/?notif_t=admin_plan_mall_activity¬if_id=1525194929580364).
Regards,
James
"Put on your best red dresses, ill-fitting suits, and bring your roses as we present "The Citizen Kane" of bad films: The Room, back to back with Greg & Tommy's new film Best F(r)iends!
