Dear all,
you will have heard from the terrific student nationals we had a couple of weeks ago and how our Sheffield students did so well, the beginners who'd only started a few weeks before, our four ikkyu grading to their shodan, all, boys and girls, doing themselves proud!
Well, there is no rest for the wicked and both universities are taking each others on in what is our second Varsity Games ever! Hallam and Sheffield Universities have been fighting each other for over a decade and aikido has been included in the contest since last year, with Hallam winning the first bout, by the tiniest of margins. It certainly made exciting viewing and I've no doubt that this year's will see even better rivalry between both clubs!
Non students: please come and watch! It's free. EIS from 6pm on 26/03.
Students: please take part! The contest is run in a great format which we call a kongodantaisen, or team event, with both embu and shiai.
The more students in each team, the better! Every person counts!
See you then if not before in the dojo which is by the way getting better by the day!
Celine
