Sheffield Aikido - Junior's Day

Dear Sheffield Aikido dojo members,

as our events officer James recently announced, our dojo is hosting a juniors' day this Sunday. In Japan, this is called "Kodomo no hi" or Children's day and is celebrated every year on 5th May with the flying of "koinobori" or streamers in the shape of carps, as in the attached photo.

This time of year holds a particular significance to our junior club since our very first junior only session started on 26th April, 2 years' ago, so we are also celebrating our junior club's second birthday!

So the junior club is inviting all members of the dojo to come and celebrate both "Kodomo no hi" and our second birthday. The juniors will give a demonstration of what they have worked on recently, before we fly our very own "koinobori"! We will also make paper cranes, and share some cake - of course, you do not need to be a junior to indulge in any of these! And, if you feel like bringing a home baked cake, don't let me stop you!

The day will start at 1pm, with the demonstration from 1.15pm.

Please come and join in the fun, and fingers crossed for some good weather!
